Venue for celebration drinks by the Great Train Robbers after stealing over £2 million from a Post Office train in August 1963. Ronnie Biggs was a regular drinker in this pub. The Cherry Tree was rebuilt and named The Old Cherry Tree, was then rebranded the New Hamlet Inn, and is now called The Vale.
